John writing his second Letters Agape Bible Study
The Second Letter of John

Most Biblical scholars, ancient and modern, attribute the Second Letter of John to St. John Zebedee, one of Jesus' Twelve Apostles who became the Bishop of Ephesus. In the Letter, John identifies himself as "the Presbyter/Elder;" the same designation the Apostle Peter also used to refer to himself in 1 Peter 5:1. The Second Letter has many similarities to John's First Letter, including the warning about the danger of following false teachers who deny the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. He also encourages his readers to adhere to God's truths and express their love for both God and their covenant brothers and sisters in the family of the Church.
