The Book of Micah
The Prophet Micah was active in Judah from before the fall of the Northern Kingdom of Israel until the time of King Hezekiah of the Southern Kingdom of Judah and was a contemporary of the Prophet Isaiah. His prophetic book is listed among those of the Twelve Minor Prophets. He depicts the impending coming of Yahweh's day of judgment to the idolatrous citizens of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, especially for their capital, Samaria. God also calls the Southern Kingdom of Judah to repentance, promising hope for the future after the restoration of fellowship with Him. The prophecy in Micah 5:1-4a that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem in Judah is one of the most important Old Testament messianic prophecies.
