The Book of Joshua
The Book of Joshua is a story about faith in action and the amazing results of the application of the obedience of faith coupled with God's Divine will. In the second year after the Exodus liberation and covenant formation at Mt. Sinai, the twelve tribes of the children of Israel stood on the border of the land God promised to give their forefathers. However, their faith in God failed them and they refused to march forward to take possession of the land of Canaan. It was a failure that resulted in God's judgment, condemning the Israelites to forty years of wilderness wandering. Forty years later a new generation of Israelites, hardened by the years in the wilderness and spiritually strengthened by living in obedience to the Law of Yahweh's holy covenant, were prepared to march forward in faith to claim the Promised Land. Led by God's anointed leader, Joshua, these holy warriors obediently placed their lives and the future of their children in the hands of their Holy God and Divine King. Their victory not only established Israel as a holy nation but advanced God's plan for mankind's ultimate salvation.
